Historic and excellent China Rider
This SBD sounds great to me, at least by the time you get to China Rider, which is why you're here. Phil sounds great, a little on the prominent side but

certainly not drowning anyone out. There's an AUD patch in Rider from an OK/decent source. It's not too jarring and fades back in before the end of the jam before the "headlight" verse. The overall performance quality is superb as noted by others. Not all historic "bustout" performances are nailed like this one by any means! Garcia's busy, frenetic style of this era is on full display and the Wolf sounds great on the chords. This and the superb id#7116 audience tape of set 2 are both must-hears. Set 2 is more consistent than set 1, taken together this show is a contender for the best of early '79 (which is saying more than many people think). The overall uneven performance makes this a 4 star fileset for me. Besides China Rider the only big highlight I hear is the Music closer, and great versions of that are relatively common in 78-'79.

He said WHAT now?
The reviewer below said "this SBD recording is too heavy on Phil"... This combination of words is causing me some confusion.. too heavy.. as in TOO MUCH

PHIL? This does not compute... Like "too much sex" or "too much garlic" which I have also seen and did not understand. I love me some PHAT PHIL and there ain't enough in here!

Blazing China-Rider but recording is not quite right
This is one of the best China-Riders ever (if you've ever heard a good aud of this show, you know what I'm talking about). Unfortunately, this SBD recording

is too heavy on Phil, and everyone else is sort of drowned out. The interplay between Garcia, Weir, and Phil are unbelievable through both songs. The audience goes completely bonkers. Still searching for a really clean SBD or, better yet, a MATRIX, of this show.

Missing songs from same show?
This CM version (and two others on IA) has BE Women and LLR. Neither are listed in DeadBase for this show. To add to the confusion, SHN ID 19414 has BE

Women but not LLR. What's the thought on these?
